Meat itself (also chips) were great, but it’s a kind of fast food, where you’re required to eat fast and leave the table for the others as soon as possible, so I did not really enjoy the fact of staying there… I also do not recommend wine or beer as the quality is not good

Bunsen on Dame Street has become a bit of an institution in Dublin — and for good reason. The place reminds me of an upscale In-N-Out Burger: a small menu, laser-focused on doing the basics perfectly. There are only two burgers — single or double — and three types of fries, but everything is cooked to perfection and tastes incredible every single time. The quality of the beef, the soft toasted buns, and the balance of flavors show how much care goes into every burger. Drinks are kept simple too: classic sodas, a few canned or bottled beers, and a small but thoughtful wine list (available by the glass or bottle). It’s all you need. Bunsen doesn’t try to do too much — it just does the essentials exceptionally well. A great spot that truly deserves its reputation as one of Dublin’s best burger joints.

The bun sets the tone immediately. Soft, glossy, very lightly toasted, and sturdy enough to hold everything together without stealing the spotlight. The patties are made from 3 cuts. Well seared with a deep crust that brings proper Maillard flavor, while the inside looks juicy and beef forward. The melt on the cheese is exactly where it should be, draped and oozing into every crevice, amplifying savoriness without masking the meat. The menu is small (literally) as they only have hamburger or cheeseburger and the basic toppings like lettuce, tomato, bacon…etc The only issue was the meat was overcooked as I asked for medium and became slightly chewy but still enjoyable. Overall, this is a no nonsense, properly built cheeseburger that respects tradition and rewards good technique. Simple on paper, satisfying in reality, and exactly what a serious burger should look like.
